Sheriff’s deputies arrest Albemarle man for sex offenses with a child
An Albemarle man was arrested on Tuesday following a report law enforcement received in May involving sexual offenses with a child.
After an investigation, James Leopard, 75, of Albemarle was charged with numerous offenses, according to Lt. Joseph Lawing, with the office’s Criminal Investigations Division. They include: one count of indecent liberties with a child, three counts of crimes against nature, one count of statutory sex offense with a person 15 years or younger, four counts of second degree forcible sex offense and five counts of attempted forcible sex offense.
Leopard, who is not in jail, received a $100,000 unsecured bond.
