Gray Stone women’s XC team takes fourth at state finals

At Saturday’s 1A state finals in Kernersville, the Gray Stone women’s cross-country team placed fourth overall.

The Knights finished fourth with 137 team points. Swain County won the 1A state title with the low team score of 89, followed by Thomas Jefferson (101) and Avery County (132).

Emberleigh Pauley-Brown, a sophomore, earned All-State honors finishing fourth overall with a time of 20:32.55. Arizona Blankenship, a Swain County freshman, won the individual title with a time of 19:06.19.

Grace Eppehimer, also a sophomore, was second on the Knights and 19th overall in 21:48.62, followed on the team by sophomores Anaston Trexler (42nd-22:56.82) and Anna Lynn Carter (47th-23:10.67) along with freshman Mary Church (65th-23:41.41).
