Man dies after bicycle collides with van
A bicyclist and businessman died Wednesday afternoon.
Douglas Stokes, 77, was riding his bike when he collided with the rear of a 2023 Ford Transit van on Park Ridge Road near Ridge Street in Albemarle, according to information provided by Albemarle Public Information Officer David Fath.
Albemarle police officers and emergency medical personnel responded around 4:39 p.m. Stokes was pronounced dead at the scene, Fath said.
Police continue to investigate the collision.
