Private school announces graduates

Scholars Academy for the Gifted and Artistically Elite, a private school for gifted learners, has announced its first graduating class of four students — three of whom are graduating early.

Scholars Academy for the Gifted and Artistically Elite’s graduating class of 2021, their honors, and the colleges they will attend are:

Victoria Bevil graduates Summa Cum Laude, with dual credit towards her first completed semester at the University of Florida.

Ariela Gibson graduates Cum Laude and will attend University of North Carolina- Wilmington.

Haley Lowder has been accepted into several schools. Haley, 16, graduates Summa Cum Laude with 15 honors and 42 credit hours of transferable college credit. Her college of choice and major is TBD.

Mary Wyatt Johnson, 16, graduates Summa Cum Laude with 14 honors, 3 AP, and 23 credit hours of transferable college credits. Mary will be majoring in early childhood education at Liberty University.

“We are so proud of the graduating class of 2021,” said Dr. Laura Lowder, founder, director and curriculum coordinator for Scholars Academy for the Gifted & Artistically Elite and associate professor of eduction at Pfeiffer University. “It has been a privilege to work with these amazing scholars and watch them thrive. They are graduating with a total of 42 honors, six advanced placement (AP), and a whopping 88 credit hours of transferable college credits!”

Scholars Academy for the Gifted and Artistically Elite was built from the ground up over the past four years by Lowder, an Albemarle native and Pfeiffer University alumna.
