Event raises $47,000 for Tillery Compassionate Care

The women of the Old North State Club hosted a dinner recently to benefit Tillery Compassionate Care. About 180 people attended the event on April 27 at the Old North State Club. A cocktail reception was held at the clubhouse before going to member homes for dinner.

The event marked 21 years of support for the nonprofit, with more than $47,000 in donations raised for 2024. Overall, the group has raised more than $410,000 for Tillery Compassionate Care in 21 years.

“Hospice is one of the few charitable organizations that has the potential to touch all our families at some point, and we are blessed to have such a quality hospice organization serving Stanly County and the greater Uwharrie region,” said Kerra French, chairperson of the 2024 Old North State Hospice Committee. “The Old North State community is proud to continue our 21-year partnership with Tillery Compassionate Care and help support these critical services.”

Committee members include Kerra French, Shannon Metera, Christy Modzelewski, Emily Breece and Karen Mitchell.

“Every time we raise another dollar for Tillery Compassionate Care, we know that someone will be guaranteed our help,” said Tillery Compassionate Care CEO Lori Thayer. “Our philosophy is that patient needs come first, and we never turn anyone away due to their inability to pay.  It is through community support and fundraisers that we strive to stay true to this commitment.  The support from this dinner helps us continue to do this work with the same dedication and compassion that has driven us for 42 years.  We are grateful for your support for the last 21 years.”
