Stanly Community College and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University recently signed a new articulation agreement that will better enable students to transition between the institutions.

SCC President Dr. John Enamait joined Dr. Sherrie L. Drye, associate professor, Department of Business Information Systems and Analytics, NC A&T State University, on Aug. 3 to sign the articulation agreement. Several SCC Officials were on hand to witness the signing. Drye was representing NC A&T Chancellor Dr. Harold L. Martin, Sr., who was not able to attend the event.

Through this agreement, SCC Business Administration students can seamlessly transfer to NC A&T to complete their Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology degree. SCC students who enter this program will have earned up to 67-68 credit hours, allowing them to get a jump-start on the courses within their major, saving a significant amount of money. Additionally, SCC students will enter NC A&T as juniors.

“We are happy to offer our Business Administration students a seamless transition to NC A&T State University,” Enamait said. “Many who enter community colleges plan to transfer to a four-year college or university, but often are confronted with challenges along the way. This articulation agreement will help students navigate difficulties for an easier transition. SCC is excited about this agreement with NC A&T and look forward to developing more opportunities for students in the coming years.”

Dr. Sherrie L. Drye added: “North Carolina A&T is pleased to collaborate with Stanly Community College on this articulation agreement. This will enable students in the Applied Science in Business Administration at SCC to move more swiftly towards their academic progress in the NC A&T BS in Business Information Technology degree, which is housed in the Business Information Systems and Analytics department. Earning a Business IT degree will provide them a foundation for job opportunities and growth. We look forward to future collaborations between NC A&T and SCC.”

Drye said that attending the signing was particularly special since her family is from Albemarle and Oakboro.

“I have fond memories of eating at Whispering Pines, Log Cabin restaurant and Pat and Mick’s Fish House with my family. I was impressed with Stanly Community College’s facilities during my visit. Although the students were not on campus yet, Dr. Enamait and the other administrators I met were friendly and enthusiastic about their work. I appreciate the opportunity to attend this ceremony,” she said.
