‘Edutainer’ speaks to Gray Stone students, parents on ‘social media landmines’

Gray Stone Day School recently welcomed professional speaker and “Edutainer” Robert Hackenson Jr. to present an interactive student and special parent session on social media landmines and the potential issues and safety concerns that come along with modern technology.

Since 2004, Hackenson has been delivering these educational experiences to help recognize the tools of social media. Students were able to hear on topics of technology addiction and communication skills, cyber bullying and hateful posting, digital profiling and safety.

The parent session addressed best practices to keep kids safe online, ideas for household rules on technology, popular apps and how to avoid getting overwhelmed in an ever-changing world of apps.

After graduating from Western New England University, Hackenson earned his MBA and certificate in advanced organizational leadership (CAOL) from Nichols College. In the corporate world, he worked as the digital marketing manager for Winbrook Inc., and was on the board for the American Marketing Association Boston Chapter, the second largest chapter in the U.S.
