Chamber

Eugene B. Pickler, production manager of Springdale Farms, had been elected president of the Albemarle-Stanly County Chamber of Commerce for 1967 at the organization’s business meeting.

Others named as officers for the coming year were Jerry D. Wagoner, Henry C. Doby Jr., Dr. W.R. Dobbs and John A. Andrew, vice presidents, and Fetzer Hartsell, treasurer.

Elected to three-year terms on the Board of Directors were John DeTorre, Eugene S. Tanner Jr., W.E. Goza, Dr. Carl L. Bowen, Luther A. Adams, Arthur Rogers and John Andrew. Harold H. Hilburn was reelected to fill a vacancy for a one-year term.

Dentist
Dr. Maurice B. Richardson of Albemarle had been installed as president-elect of the Third District Dental Society.

Trip
Mr. and Mrs. Spurgeon Green, owners of Greene’s Curb Market at 1224 W. Main St., had won a four-day trip for two to Paris courtesy of Royal Crown Cola Bottling Company.

Politics
Both political parties in Stanly were planning major rallies on Saturday evening.

Congressman James T. Broyhill would speak to the Republicans at their main county rally of the election campaign at the National Guard Armory on North Third Street.

Robert “Bob” Bingham of Boone, a candidate from the Ninth District for the Democrats, would have their big western Stanly rally at West Stanly High School.
