Friends of Stanly County Library to have book sale

The Friends of the Stanly County Library will have the annual fall book sale Oct. 11-14 in the lower level of the library, 133 E. Main St., Albemarle.

From 4-7 p.m. Oct. 11, Friends members with active paid memberships have a special opportunity to shop for books at half price. Memberships can be renewed or purchased at the door.

Oct. 12-13, the doors open to the public 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Oct. 14 is bargain bag day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Books can be purchased for a $1 a bag. Proceeds help the Friends of the Stanly County Library support public library services in all branches.

There’s something for readers of all genres and all ages. The sale includes hardbacks and paperbacks in children’s, young adult and adult books. Also available are CDs, audio books, DVDs and more. Prices range from $.25 to $1.

This sale includes a special collection that will be offered with special pricing. There will be several tables of vintage children’s books. These books will have individual pricing and are not subject to the half price discount.

Stanly County teachers are invited to select $5 worth of age appropriate books for their classrooms.

Friends of the Stanly County Library, formed as a non-profit in 1992, supports the Stanly County Library and its services, informs others of issues affecting the library, and assists in promoting literacy in Stanly County.

Each year the Friends sponsor special events such as author presentations, workshops, fall and spring book sales and the Children’s Summer Reading Program.
