The Uwharrie Players recently had its annual awards banquet to celebrate the 2022 season.

Award winners were:

• Best Actor — James Cotton for “The Odd Couple;”

• Best Actress — Bailey Brown for “The Diary of Anne Frank;”

• Best Supporting Actor — Lawson Smith for “The Diary of Anne Frank;”

• Best Supporting Actress — Heather Wilson-Bowlby for “The Diary of Anne Frank;”

• Favorite Ensemble Character Actor — Lawson Smith for “Little House on the Prairie;”

• Favorite Ensemble Character Actress — Cathy Starnes for “Little House on the Prairie;”

• Favorite Male Comic Performance — James Cotton for “The Odd Couple;”

• Favorite Female Comic Performance —Melissa Eudy for “The Odd Couple;”

• Favorite Newcomer — Judson Busch for “Little House on the Prairie;”

• Favorite Show — “The Diary of Anne Frank;”

• People’s Choice Award for “The Odd Couple” — Steve Forster;

• People’s Choice Award for “Little House on the Prairie” — Kate White;

• People’s Choice Award for “The Diary of Anne Frank” — Bailey Brown;

• Sam Holshouser Award – Lynne Hancock; and

• Joan Giglio Award – Bradley Eudy.

The ceremony concluded with Audrey Barringer being inducted into the Uwharrie Players Hall of Fame.

The banquet also boasted the upcoming season featuring “The Hundred Dresses the Musical,” the comedy “Down to Earth,” a musical called “Brightstar” set in the NC mountains and a country-pop jukebox musical called “Honky Tonk Angels.”
