Whit Morrow, son of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Morrow and a senior at Albemarle Senior High School, had signed a letter of intent to play football for the Davidson College Wildcats.

During the 1965 football campaign for Coach Bill Cain’s Albemarle footballers, Whit had 267 yards in 61 carries, scoring five touchdowns and catching eight passes for 173 yards.

Bowl Game

David “Red” Mabry, a South Stanly High School senior, had been selected to play in the Fourth Annual Boys Home Football Bowl Game on Aug. 12.

He was one of 60 players selected from 250 nominations submitted throughout North Carolina. The game was sponsored by the N.C. Jaycees.

Plant

Stovall-Wolfe Motor Company had made arrangements to take 17 North Stanly High School motor mechanic students and their teacher, Phil Hancock, to Atlanta, Georgia, to tour the assembly plant.

Stovall-Wolfe would furnish the cars necessary for the trip and pick up the tab for the evening meal at the Waldorf Motel where the group would stay.
