North Stanly volleyball tops South Stanly

On Aug. 30, the North Stanly volleyball team went on the road to South Stanly needing a win to stay tied with West Montgomery for first place in the conference standings.

The Comets earned that win on the road in straight sets with scores of 25-18, 26-24 and 25-23.

Merris Talbert led North with nine kills while Taegan Lowder added eight kills and paced North with 10 digs. Madi Morris led the Comets with five aces and Nicole Lowder had five of North’s 11 blocks.

Payton Landis led North with seven assists while Alex Childress added six assists. As a team, North had 20 assists in winning the Comets’ fourth straight match.

Mattie Hinson had the most kills for South (5-3, 4-2) with 11 and led South along with Star Lee with nine digs. Sidney McSwain added six kills while Alexis Faulkner had three aces for the Bulls.

Adison Campbell reached double figures for South with 12 of the team’s 26 assists.
