Hessie Sharp Clark

Hessie Sharp Clark, 91, passed away Friday, September 21, 2018, in Cary, NC, after several years of declining health following 42 years as a public school educator.
The family would like friends to join them at Fairview Memorial Park for a graveside service on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. to share memories of her life.

The Reverend Matt Drumheller, associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will lead the service.
Mrs. Clark was born July 20, 1927 in Iredell County to the late Lewis and Hessie Privette Sharp.
She received her advanced education from Longwood University in Virginia, specializing in public school education and religious activities.
She chose to dedicate her life’s work to children. After several years of teaching in Virginia she returned to North Carolina to pursue a career in public education.
She participated in numerous community organizations, cultural arts programs, and many endeavors of the area’s various religious faiths.
The rolling hills and waterways of Stanly County provided her many pleasurable activities.
Preceding her in death were Billy Johnson Clark, husband of 44 years, her parents, sisters Ethel Earnhardt of Albemarle and Nettie Allen of Wagner, SC and one brother, Arvel D. Sharp of Amelia, VA.
Surviving Mrs. Clark are one daughter, Becky Jo Clark Stafford (Dan) of Raleigh, a son “Buster” Billy J. Clark, Jr. (Katherine) of Apex, five grandchildren: Jonathan Stafford (Raleigh), BJ Clark III (Fuquay), Josh Stafford (Charleston, SC), Andrew Clark (Apex), and Laura Clark (Atlantic Beach). She has one great-grandson, Jared Deroche of Raleigh and two nieces: Nettie E. Allgood of Greensboro and Johnnie A. West of Wagner, SC.
Mrs. Clark’s family would like to thank all who shared in her loving care: Drs. Godwin, Melo, & Shank, Mary Troutman of the Senior Center, Evelyn Honeycutt of Rescare, and her special guardian angels Suzanne Griffith, Pauline Lowder, and Lynn Swaringen.
Thank you all for your devotion.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Senior Center of Albemarle.
