Nancy Lowder Kerr

Nancy Lowder Kerr, age 84, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, December 21, after an extended stay in the hospital. Her memorial service was at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 26, at Bethany United Methodist Church in Albemarle. The family received friends at the church immediately following the service.
Nancy worked as a secretary for the Albemarle Parks and Recreation Department for many years. She had a love for making all kinds of crafts and teaching ceramic classes. Even though she retired from the City, she kept active by organizing pottery classes and going to local nursing homes to do arts and crafts with the residents. She enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, making crafts at home and spending time with her family and her dog, Bitsy. She was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Nancy was awarded the Sally C. Stoker Achievement Award in March of 2016 and was honored by more than 120 people at the 21st annual Stanly County YMCA prayer breakfast.
Born March 1, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edna Lowder. Her husband, Jim Kerr preceded her in death. She is survived by a son, Rusty Kerr, a daughter, Deborah Whitley; grandchildren, Ginny Smith and husband Lukas, Allison Brooks and husband Daniel, Jonathan Pease and wife Cameron and eight great-grandchildren.
