South men stay in second, win at Uwharrie Charter

Tuesday’s 70-42 win for South Stanly’s men’s basketball team at Uwharrie Charter kept the Bulls 1.5 games behind North Rowan for first place in the Yadkin Valley Conference.

Three starters reached double figures for South (11-8, 9-2 YVC), led by Jacorian Legrand’s 16 points. Jaquez Cooke added 14 and Chandler Lowder scored 13. Jadius Jones also reached double figures for the Bulls off the bench, adding 11.

Dawson Dunn led the Eagles (4-13, 3-8) with 13.

“We had big quarters defensively in the second and third quarters; I was able to play everyone in the fourth,” South coach Sean Whitley said.

South hosts Albemarle Thursday night for second place in the conference. The Bulldogs won on the road Tuesday at North Moore, 79-36.
