The Albemarle women’s basketball team wrapped up the regular season Friday with a perfect mark in conference play including a 58-21 win at South Stanly.

Armani Baldwin led the Bulldogs (23-1, 16-0) with 20 points while Zycoria Tillman added 18. Sadie Lee led the Bulls (8-16, 5-11 YVC) with seven.

Albemarle coach Eric Davis said Somajhe Porter, who started for the Bulldogs due to players still out with illness and injuries, was big on the boards and defensively in the win.

Davis also credited the team’s seniors, including Baldwin and Tillman, saying they “have meant a lot. They have led by example of hard work, dedication and commitment. For four years they have always come to practice ready to put in work. I couldn’t be more proud of a deserving group accomplishing what they have.”

The Bulldogs will play at 6 p.m. Monday at home in the opening round of the YVC conference tournament against Uwharrie Charter (8-16, 4-12).

South Stanly will be on the road in the first round Monday as the No. 7 seed, taking on second-seed Gray Stone.

The semifinals and finals will be played on Wednesday and Friday, respectively, hosted by South Davidson.
