Albemarle women advance to YVC finals, top North Moore

In one of the closest results of the season, the Albemarle women’s basketball team kept its win streak alive Wednesday in a 59-55 win over North Moore.

Zycoria Tillman scored a season-high 34 points for the Bulldogs (25-1), adding five rebounds and six steals. Armani Baldwin added eight points and six rebounds, while Kiana Ridley led Albemarle with 11 rebounds, adding seven points and three steals.

Nadia Brower led the Mustangs (14-11) with 27 points, while Alexus McCrimmon added 14. The Mustangs led 16-13 after one quarter before the Bulldogs outscored North Moore 16-9 in the second period to lead 29-25 at halftime. The two teams tied in both the third and fourth periods in terms of points scored.

Albemarle’s win was the second-closest result in a win for the team, increasing the team’s active win streak to 15 games.

The Bulldogs will take on third-seeded North Rowan Friday at 6 p.m. The Cavaliers won Wednesday over second-seed Gray Stone, 41-37.
