North softball opens with win over East Rowan

The North Stanly softball team opened the 2019 season on Feb. 28 with a 5-2 home win over East Rowan in a non-conference matchup.

North scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings, along with two runs in the third, and led 5-0 before East added two runs in the top of the sixth.

Merris Talbert led the offense for the Comets, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Mimi Selke and Callie Parker each had two hits, including a double each, and drove in an RBI. Payton Landis was 1-for-2 for North with an RBI.
