After taking an extra-inning win on the road Thursday night, North Stanly returned home Friday for the second of a home-at-home baseball series with Uwharrie Charter, earning a 3-2 win over the Eagles.

Carson Lowder’s two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning was all the Comets (12-1, 9-0 YVC) ended up needing behind the solid pitching of Rhett Lowder. North’s starter went the distance allowing one earned run on five hits with 11 strikeouts against the Eagles (7-3, 7-2).

Uwharrie Charter scored in the top of the second inning on an RBI double from Johnathan Weaver but the Comets answered in the bottom of the frame. Two walks and a Drew Little single loaded the bases with no outs. Dylan Eudy earned an RBI when he was hit by a pitch for the Comets, tying the game.

The win keeps North undefeated in conference play and puts the Comets two games ahead of the Eagles for first place in the standings.

North will take on another two-loss YVC team this week when the Comets play South Stanly (8-6, 8-2). The Comets are scheduled to play in Norwood Wednesday and host the Rebel Bulls on Friday.
