North Stanly softball advances with dramatic ninth-inning win

With a 1-0 nine-inning win on Tuesday night over fellow Yadkin Valley Conference opponent Uwharrie Charter, the North Stanly softball team advanced to the second round of the state playoffs.
Merris Talbert threw a complete-game shutout for No. 15 North (14-6) striking out 15 batters.
Mimi Selke tripled and scored on a Callie Parker single with one out in the ninth.
North plays at No. 2 Roxboro Community on Friday at 5.
