Police: Teen shot in hip
Albemarle Police Chief David Dulin said a teen was taken to the hospital Wednesday after an accidental shooting.
Dulin said two individuals were examining a gun when it went off and struck a girl in the hip area.
Devonte Jayshu Wall told police he was responsible for the involuntary discharge of a firearm which hit Jasmine Carbajal in the hip area. Wall was visiting Carbajal at her home at 222 Second Ave. when the incident happened, police said.
She was taken to CHS Stanly before being airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Dulin said the incident remains under investigation.
