Gray Stone soccer downed on the road in third round of playoffs

The women’s soccer season for the Gray Stone came to an end Wednesday night as the No. 7 seeded Knights lost at No. 2 South Stokes, 7-2.

Sophomore Morgan Trexler scored both goals in the game for the Knights (17-7).

Madison Green had a hat trick for the Sauras (18-2) with three goals while Evan O’Leary added a goal and two assists. Jenna Shotton and Rhiannon Dunlap each added a goal and an assist. Summer Coates made three saves in goal for South Stokes.

South Stokes (18-2) will play No. 14 Mountain Island Charter (12-8-1) on Saturday in the fourth round of the state playoffs.

Gray Stone graduates six seniors from this year’s team which won the Yadkin Valley Conference and has won 37 consecutvie conference games in a row: Lillie Austin, Natalie Garner, Kynsay Hunt, Katie Leckonby, Sarah Roane and Cyan Vang.
