A person died in a crash at U.S. Highway 52 near the NorthEast Connector Friday afternoon.

Albemarle Police responded to an accident around 5 p.m.

“A motor vehicle was exiting the Burger King parking lot onto U.S. 52 and another vehicle traveling north on U.S. 52 T-boned that vehicle in the driver’s door area,” Police Chief David Dulin said.

The driver pulling out of the parking lot was killed and a passenger in the vehicle was taken to Atrium Health Stanly before being flown to Carolinas Medical Center Main, Dulin said.

Names are being withheld until family members can be notified.
