An event in Locust Sunday looks to benefit firefighters injured in a fire which took place recently at a local manufacturing plant.

Highway 55 Burgers will host a Cars and Coffee event 8-11 a.m. to benefit two Albemarle firefighters who were injured in a fire at the Fiberon plant in New London.

The car show will feature an all-inclusive competition of imports, domestic cars and motorcycles at $10 per vehicle. All proceeds will go to the injured firefighters.

Spectators will be admitted free and plans are underway to include a pancake breakfast for the show as well.

From 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, 10 percent of all sales at Hwy. 55 Burgers locations in Albemarle and Locust will also go to the fundraiser.
