Fisherman drowns at Badin Lake
A fisherman drowned in Badin Lake Thursday afternoon.
Michael Hegwood, 71, of Concord fell off the side of the boat he was in and drowned around 1:30 p.m., according to N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission Officer Joshua St. Onge.
“It just seems like a total mishap,” St. Onge said.
Hegwood, who was fishing with a friend, was wearing a life jacket. The friends were fishing near the old Alcoa access point, St. Onge said.
