Pfeiffer volleyball sweeps two matches over N.C. Wesleyan

The Pfeiffer University volleyball team rolled over N.C. Wesleyan, taking a pair of 3-0 wins on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount.
Pfeiffer (4-1, 2-1 USA-South) swept both matches over N.C. Wesleyan (0-5, 0-3) with scores of 3-0 (25-26, 28-26, 25-21) and 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-23).
In the first match, former Gray Stone Day standout Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.) led the way by returning a .353 hitting percentage while going for a team best 10 kills in the win. She also had a solo block and three digs.
Freshman Jessica Leshko (Apex, N.C.) and Kira Suttles (Morganton, N.C.) split duties at setter, with Leshko providing 18 assists and Suttles handing out 14. Senior Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) had a team-high 21 digs in match one.
In the second match of the afternoon, Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) had a team-best 12 kills while posting a .611 hitting percentage. Junior Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) also had nine kills. Leshko and Suttles once again split duties at setter, with Leshko having 22 assists to Suttles’ 17.
The Falcons will return home to The Village on Saturday, March 20 for a pair of matches with Greensboro College. The first match, a scheduled USA South match will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Merner Gym with the second match beginning at approximately noon.
