West Stanly softball moves to 5-0 with shutout at Mount Pleasant
The West Stanly softball squad continued its strong start to the season Tuesday night at Mount Pleasant.
Jordan Hatch shut down the Tigers while the Colts got big hits from Morgan Edwards and more in a 6-0 road win.
Hatch set a season high with 15 strikeouts to one walk, scattering four hits. Through the first five games of the season, all wins, Hatch has a 0.70 earned run average and a 14.8 strikeouts-to-walks ratio.
West’s Morgan Edwards and Carmen McRae had back-to-back home runs in a three-run sixth with Edwards driving in two runs. West leadoff hither Rachel Efird was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple while Shelby Barbee, Kailey Furr and Ashlyn Hughes each added an RBI.
The Colts were scheduled to host Forest Hills Wednesday, but rain postponed the game to April 22.
