A shooting incident Memorial Day led to an arrest, according to the Badin Police Chief.

At approximately 2 p.m., Badin Sgt. Jeremy Forsyth responded to a call of shots fired on 607 Marion Street. A second call was made to 911 from the victim, a 42-year old white female, who reported she had been shot.

The victim was airlifted to Charlotte with non-life threatening injuries, Smith said. Badin’s police chief added the victim was shot in her back through the window of her house from across the street. The victim had gone back into her house and locked the door.

Smith said the investigation led police to believe the dispute started between neighbors, with one suspect having been apprehended and arrested. The suspect’s name has not been released yet nor have the charges against the suspect, who Smith said was a female, been released.

The suspect also was accompanied by a male individual who may also be looking at charges, the chief said. The matter had not yet gone before the magistrate as of Monday evening. Further details on the incident will be forthcoming once the suspect goes before the magistrate and a report is filed.
