Pfeiffer senior Brina Bentley became the 18th player in school history to top the 1,000-point mark, doing so in the Falcons’ 87-59 setback at Mary Baldwin University last Saturday afternoon.

Bentley, of Chesterfield, Virginia, scored a team-high 18 points on a 7-of-15 effort from the field, which included a pair of 3-pointers.

Entering the game with 997 career points, Bentley achieved the milestone at the 9:30 mark of the third quarter, as she opened the second half scoring for Pfeiffer.

With her 18 points, she currently has 1,015 points which places her 16th on the program’s scoring list.

Bentley’s career achievement was not enough, as Mary Baldwin limited Pfeiffer to just 25.3 percent (21-of-83) from the field while shooting 49.2 percent (29-of-59).

Senior teammate Mya Johnson (Roxboro, N.C.) had 11 points as the only other Falcon player to achieve double-figures. Both Johnson and Bentley had eight rebounds to lead the way.

Five Mary Baldwin players scored in double-figures, with Jalen Gathers scoring 22 points while posting 16 rebounds.

The loss drops Pfeiffer to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in USA South play while Mary Baldwin improves to 6-5 and 2-3 in league play.
