South Stanly hosts YVC baseball, softball tournaments

This week, South Stanly will host the baseball and softball tournaments of the Yadkin Valley Conference.
Baseball
No. 3 Union Academy (13-7, 6-4 YVC) will take on sixth seed Gray Stone (6-10, 0-10) at 4 p.m. today with the No. 4 seed, host South Stanly (5-12, 4-6) taking on No. 5 seed Robinson (7-12, 4-6) at 7.
The No. 2 seed, Mount Pleasant (9-9, 6-4) will take on the winner of the Union Academy / Gray Stone matchup Wednesday at 4 p.m. Top seed and regular-season champion North Stanly plays the South Stanly / Robinson winner Wednesday night at 7.
Friday’s championship finals will start at 7:30 p.m.
Softball
Today at 4:30 p.m., third seed Union Academy (15-4, 7-3 YVC) will be the home team against No. 6 Robinson (2-14, 0-10). No. 4 North Stanly (11-7, 4-6 YVC) will play No. 5 Gray Stone (10-9, 2-8) at 6:30 p.m.
The winner between the Comets and the Knights will face No. 2 seed Mount Pleasant (13-7, 7-3) at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The winner of the Union Academy / Robinson games takes on top seed South Stanly (20-3, 10-0) at 6:30 p.m.
Finals for the YVC softball tournament have been scheduled for Friday night at 6.
