South Stanly softball advances to third round with home win

The top-seeded Bulls took care of business at home Thursday night to advance to the third round of the playoffs with the win over the No. 17 seeded Draughn Wildcats 6-1.

Ali Glover earned the win for South (24-3), allowing one earned with one walk and 10 strikeouts.

Mary Hinson led the Bulls’ offense, going 3-for-3, while Alexis Harwood, Jacklyn Almond and Kinsley Tyson each had two hits. Mattie Poulos was 2-for-4 including a home run, her 15th of the season.

South will host either No. 8 Cherryville (16-8) or No. 24 North Stokes (7-14) Tuesday night.
