An abandoned building on Aquadale Road in Albemarle caught fire Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to a building, with the sign “Brick-Source“ on the outside, at a location in the 100 block of Aquadale Road behind the Servco station on South Second Street.

“As crews arrived on scene, heavy smoke and flames were visible through the building’s roof,” according to Albemarle Fire Department’s Facebook page. “The building sustained extensive damage to the roof and walls. No injuries have been reported. The fire is under investigation.”

A previous post noted the fire was a defensive fire, meaning it was isolated so it would not spread.

The volunteer fire departments of Endy and Southside responded to the fire, along with officers with Albemarle Police Department.
