At Thursday’s meeting of the Locust City Council, the board unanimously approved the budget for the upcoming fiscal year starting July 1.

The property tax rate will remain at $0.36 per $100 of valuation. City Administrator Cesar Correa noted this budget marked 26 years in which Locust has not had a property tax increase.

Correa noted the budget does not have any fund transfers or debt, something he added the town “intends to do that as long as we can.”

The budget includes increased system development fees for new home and business construction, which was also passed at Thursday’s meeting.
