Special meeting called by commissioners regarding minimum lot size

The Stanly County Board of Commissioners have announced a special legislative hearing will happen at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 in the Gene McIntyre Meeting Room at Stanly Commons.

Commissioners will have a hearing and consider changes recommended by the planning board at its July 24 meeting regarding minimum lot sizes.

At that meeting, the planning board voted to recommend increasing minimum lot sizes to five acres, or 217,800 square feet, for properties zoned residential / agricultural (R/A) located in the Rural Preservation areas of the current county Land Use Plan.
