Stanly County Schools superintendent received a contract extension and raise at Tuesday’s meeting of the Board of Education.

With a unanimous vote, Dr. Jarrod Dennis received a one-year extension on his contract and a raise to a base salary of $160,000. He also will receive either a 2% increase or a percentage increase from the state’s central office, whichever is higher.

Dennis also, according to the resolution passed, can withhold part of his salary in a tax-deferred annuity, which the Board will match up to 4.75% of his aggregate annual salary.

By state statute, a superintendent may only have a contract for a maximum of four years. Dennis received a one-year extension to his current contract, which had three years remaining on it.
