A dump truck pulling out onto N.C. Highway 24-27 collided with a tractor trailer Tuesday afternoon, causing the trailer to overturn.

At approximately 2 p.m., a Chambers Trucking dump pulled out of a cut through access road for the construction on the Garrison Bridge between Stanly and Montgomery counties.

According to Sgt. Eric Phillips of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the dump truck pulled out in front of a PreStage Farms of Clayton 18-wheeler carrying a shipment of fresh eggs.

The driver of the dump truck, a 31-year-old male, had no injuries at the scene. He was charged with failure to yield.

A 63-year-old male drove the tractor-trailer and was taken to Atrium Health Concord with non-life threatening injuries.

With the incident happening between Indian Mound Road and River Haven Drive, N.C. 24-27 was shut down to allow a wrecker service to remove the overturned trailer.
