Two high schools in the Stanly County Schools district were ranked in the top 400 in the state by U.S. News & World Report on Tuesday in its annual list of the top-ranked high schools in the country.

Stanly Early College High School ranked No. 274 and West Stanly High School was No. 357.

Stanly Early College, with a 100% graduation rate, ranked No. 8,125 nationally.

U.S. News & World Report gave Stanly Early College a score of 54.04 out of 100, with 20% achieving math proficiency (district average), 31% showing science proficiency (district average) and a 100% graduation rate.

The report gave West Stanly a score of 41.1 out of 100, with 17% of students taking at least one AP exam, 8% passing at least one AP exam, 32% achieving math proficiency, 49% showing science proficiency and a 100% graduation rate.

Ranking in the 440 to 563 level in the state were Albemarle, North Stanly and South Stanly high schools.

Stanly Academy Learning Center, Stanly County Virtual Education and Stanly STEM Early College were unranked in the report.
