West Stanly’s varsity football team will take the field Friday night without its head coach.

Brett Morton will not be on the sidelines for the road game at Albemarle because of health reasons, according to West Stanly athletic director Chad Yow.

Assistant coach Charles Edwards will take over the head coaching duties for West (2-0) as the Colts take on the Bulldogs (0-2).

Nearly a day ago on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, the official West Stanly Athletics page tweeted, “Please join us in lifting up our guy here! We are thinking of you, Coach Morton.”
