The first set was tied 6-6 before North went on a 6-0 run and led the rest of the way.

In the second set, North Wilkes (21-5) led as late as 19-17 before North Stanly rallied and won the set on a solo block by middle blocker Aniston Talbert.

The Vikings opened the third set with a 10-3 run, and the Comets rallied to within one point, 22-21, before three straight North Wilkes points gave the visitors the set.

North Stanly opened the fourth set with a 14-6 run but the Vikings pulled within two points, 22-20, late in the set before the Comets scored on three of the final four points to move forward in the playoffs.

The Comets will host No. 5 seed McMichael (28-6) Thursday night at 6. The Phoenix, champions of the Mid State Conference, advanced with a three-set win versus No. 12 Randleman.
