History Society will host Jamestowne program

The Stanly County Historical Society will offer “From Jamestowne to Stanly County: Cicely Baley Jordan Farrar & Her Descendants.”
The presentation will be by Debbie Frye Noah of the Uwharrie Jamestowne Society Chapter at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at Albemarle Neighborhood Theatre, 219 E. North St., Albemarle.
Noah will share the story of Farrar, who arrived in Jamestowne in 1611 at the age of 10. Many of her descendants settled in Stanly County. Local families that can be traced to this lady are Harwood/Harward, Almond, Burris, Burleson, Clayton, Eudy, Furr and Whitley.
