Former Oakboro Mayor Joyce Little passes away

One of the longest serving mayors in Stanly County died Monday morning.

Joyce Little, who served as the mayor of Oakboro for 18 years, was 81.

Mayor Chris Huneycutt posted about Little on the town’s Facebook page.

He said she “was a dear friend and she will be missed. She made numerous contributions to the Town of Oakboro during her tenure of 18 years and will have a lasting impact on the town. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Funeral arrangement have not been announced; Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care is in charge of arrangements.
