Along with the Albemarle women’s basketball team and the men’s teams from South and North Stanly, several other teams qualified for the NCHSAA state playoffs this week.

2A Playoffs

Both West Stanly teams qualified for the postseason and are in the Western Region.

The West women’s team, having won the Rocky River Conference regular-season crown, earned a No. 10 seed in the state playoffs. The Colts (13-12) host No. 23 McMichael (13-9) Tuesday night.

North Stanly’s women’s squad (19-5) hosts a familiar opponent in former conference rival and No. 26 seed Mount Pleasant (11-14). The Comets are a No. 10 seed, and the winner of this game plays the winner between West Stanly and McMichael in the second round Friday.

On the men’s side, the West Stanly Colts (12-13) are the No. 30 seed in the Western Region and travel to No. 3 Newton-Conover (20-7) for a first-round matchup.

The Gray Stone women’s basketball team (8-15) is a No. 31 seed for the state playoffs and travels to No. 2 Bishop McGuinness (22-4).
