The holy grail for any baseball or softball pitcher is the perfect game. Even more than a no-hitter, which can still have walks or hit batters in them, retiring every batter faced is the ultimate.

West Stanly’s Jett Thomas achieved just such a goal recently with a six-inning perfect game in a 12-0 Rocky River Conference road win at Forest Hills.

Thomas has started varsity four seasons for the Colts, and has been All-Rocky River Conference for three seasons.

“He has been a gamer since he began his career with us,” West head baseball coach and athletic director Chad Yow said. “In addition to being dominant on both sides of the ball, he is a top notch student, great teammate and fine young man.”

Yow, himself a talented pitcher during his high school days playing for the Colts, said the program has had many dominant pitching performances over the years, but did not recall the last six-inning or longer perfect game.

Thomas has committed to play baseball next season at Wingate.

The Colts were 9-2 overall entering the week and have a 6-0 mark in conference play.
