A former Stanly County resident has eyes on building a veterans memorial in the county.

Cayden Osborne, 16, is selling bricks for a memorial to be built at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center.

Osborne, formerly of Stanfield, now attends Parkwood High School and is working on his Eagle Scout project.

The Troop 202 member wants to have a nautical flag pole, landscaping and a memorial sidewalk leading up to the flagpole.

Osborne, whose father and grandfather are veterans, said he chose this project “to recognize the fallen soldiers of Stanly County.”

He said he needs to raise $3,000 to do the project, which he and other troop members will install.

The cost is $50 for a 4×8 brick, with or without a graphic, such as a military branch emblem, while an 8×8 brick is $100. Both have custom logo options for an additional $15.

To order a brick, email Osborne at eaglebricks202@gmail.com.

Order deadline is May 3.
