Stanly baseball teams to play in state playoffs tonight

Three Stanly baseball teams will be at home tonight in the opening round of their respective classification’s NCHSAA stsate playoffs.

2A Baseball

The North Stanly Comets (21-4) earned a No. 5 seed in the 2A West Region after winning the Yadkin Valley Conference regular-season title. North lost in the semifinals of the YVC Tournament to the eventual tourney winner, Mount Pleasant, 1-0.

North will be at home tonight taking on No. 28 Chase (10-11).

West Stanly, who won both the regular-season and tournament championships this season in the Rocky River Conference, is also at home tonight. The Colts are a No. 7 seed and take on a former conference rival in the same team which beat the Comets in the YVC finals, the 26-seeded Mount Pleasant Tigers.

1A Baseball

South Stanly is a No. 15 seed and will be at home tonight. The Rebel Bulls (12-9, 6-4 YVC) will host No. 18 Polk County (10-13, 3-9 MFC).
