Student receives Chick-fil-A scholarship
Chick-fil-A has honored one of its Albemarle employees with a $2,500 scholarship.
Zyon Sturdivant-Toomer has worked at Chick-fil-A since its grand opening in Albemarle in March 2019 and has worked to become a kitchen leader.
“It is a pleasure to have him as part of our team and we are proud of his hard work, accomplishments and dedication to excellence,” said Lisa Swicegood, marketing and customer relations for Chick-fil-A in Albemarle.
Toomer, son of Lakale Sturdivant-Evans and Octavion Toomer and a senior at South Stanly High School, has been a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Juvenile Crime Prevention Council of Stanly County and The Academy of Goal Achievers and a teen court volunteer.
After graduation, Toomer plans on attending N.C. State University to pursue his goal of becoming a lawyer.
Since 1973, Chick-fil-A has helped more than 59,000 team members through a total investment of $92 million in scholarships. Scholarship applicants must be employed by a Chick-fil-A restaurant, be recommended by their store operator, be planning to enroll in undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four- year college, university or vocational-technical school for the upcoming academic year, have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and show active involvement in community service.
