National Piano Auditions will be virtual
The National Piano Auditions, sponsored by The National Guild of Piano Teachers, will be April 26-27. These auditions will be virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kathy Malyj Santiago, from Rose Valley, Pennsylvania, will be the adjudicator for these auditions. She has a Ph.D. in Piano, Composition and Theory, and teaches in her studio in Rose Valley.
Three piano teachers, chairwoman Alma Rae Tucciarone, Joyce Harwood and Mienna Powell, will have students to play in this event. Students will be evaluated on performance, repertoire and musicianship.
Students of Tucciarone that will play in the National division are Bryson Barbee, Eden Kluttz, Reese Coble and Lydia Crisco. Sydney McRae will play in the Hobbyist division.
Powell’s students are Elijah Powell and Preston Powell, playing in the National division.
Students of Harwood are Emma Nantz and Jack Williamson, for Paderewski Gold Medal; Mia Benoy, Allyson Harkey, Andrew Harwood, Amelia Holt, Spencer Lambert, Nate Ludeking, Claire Mauldin, Emma Nantz, Polly Nantz, Seth Richards, Kaydence Roberson Wesley Rodgers, Melani Sanchez, Ben Williamson, Emily Williamson and Jack Williamson, in the National division; Ella Morgan and Jair Sanchez in the State division; and Carys Conte, Tyler Horton, Jayden Hernandez, Mayeri Sanchez and Rachel Stewart, in the District division.
