Union Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church welcomes new pastor

Rev. Dr. Reginald Boyd Jr. has been appointed as the new pastor for Union Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Albemarle.

Boyd was born and raised in Charlotte.

He began ministering at Little Rock A.M.E. Zion Church in Charlotte in 1999 while still working with Bank of America.

He completed his undergraduate studies at Livingstone College in 2003 and went on to graduate from Hood Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree in May 2008. He completed the Doctorate of Ministry at Hood Seminary and graduated May 2014.

After transferring to the South Atlantic Episcopal District in 2008 he was ordained and appointed to Center Emmanuel A.M.E. Zion Church in January 2010. While serving as pastor of Center Emmanuel he was elected the conference secretary of the South Carolina Conference and the first-year conference studies teacher.

He has also served A.M.E. Zion churches of Union Grove in Bear Creek, Gees Grove in Siler City, Oliver’s Chapel in Staley, Cottonville in Norwood and Reeves Chapel in Concord, as well as other posts.
