Stanly broadband survey set to close Wednesday

An online survey trying to determine the shortcomings of broadband coverage in Stanly County will soon be closing.

As of Wednesday, the survey will be wrapping up, according to county officials.

Andy Lucas, the county manager, said the survey is trying to get more data “regarding areas of the county that are unserved or under-served by high speed Internet service.”

According to Lucas, the data will be combined with data from the Federal Communications Commissioner (FCC) and North Carolina’s Department of Information Technology “to justify state and federal grant dollars so these specific areas can be targeted. This is all part of the County’s effort to enhance broadband in our community.”

Lucas said part of the funding from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) will match federal and state grants to cover unserved and under-served areas of the county in terms of high speed Internet service.

The link for the survey is https://stanly.broadbandanalyzer.com and can be accessed at the five local branches of the public library.
