Raleigh – As part of an ongoing commitment to Gov. Roy Cooper’s Executive Order No. 92: Employment First for North Carolinians with Disabilities, the North Carolina Office of State Human Resources will partner with other state agencies to promote state government career opportunities in a national Disability Virtual Career Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday. The event, designed to connect jobseekers with disabilities and employers across the country, will allow participants to chat virtually with recruiters from state agencies to learn about positions that align with their skills, talents and interest in public service.

“The state’s commitment to an inclusive workplace is one of our top priorities,” said Barbara Gibson, state human resources director. “A virtual career fair like this helps us to safely connect with candidates during the pandemic, as well as expand our reach to ensure that people with disabilities know they have an equal opportunity to succeed in our state government workplace.” A similar virtual career fair held last August attracted more than 2,200 participants who interacted with 39 recruiters from 17 different state agencies.

“We are eager to reach more job-ready candidates who are motivated to join our workforce and serve the people of North Carolina,” said Kristin Siemek, state recruitment manager. “Last summer, recruiters talked with many highly-qualified individuals about their aspirations and our career opportunities. We look forward to encouraging stand-out jobseekers to apply for positions across our state.”
